Delusions of Grandeur Artists Spotlight: Plotz

Plotz are a Melbourne based four piece band who’s latest project is self described as being a combination of “pop, garage, psychedelia with rock to make a really nice audible smoothie”.

With Electric Guitar Leads, Tight Bass Grooves and Strong Drum Beats, Plotz are sure to have you grooving along to their set from the get go.

They were recently a feature on ‘Strum a Note88.9 WYN FM’, and showcased their single ‘Love On The Bay’ from their upcoming EP, ‘All Up The Wall and Down The Street’.

Having only recently fallen into their current line-up, the band have since spent their time taking their ambling twang into venues around Melbourne, and having played a crazy gig only last weekend at Howler, the band is keen to be back again this Friday.

Check them out on Facebook here.

Delusions of Grandeur Artists Spotlight: Splendidid

The next band we are introducing is Splendidid. This five piece band make beats that will, without a doubt, have you dancing for joy. Their dream like sound is one not to be missed, especially not this friday at our event.

These guys have been performing all around Melbourne from the Lucky Coq to Sunnyside so we are real lucky for them to be stopping by Howler for us.

At the start of the month they dropped their track titled ‘newbaki’ which has a nice laid back latin sound mixed well with some incredible breathy vocal work and just this week they followed it up with their eclectic music video premiere of 'coco.sexbreath'.

We really can not wait to hear Splendidid perform these tracks as well as others from their album 'Easy Trip" this Friday as part of the Delusions of Grandeur in memory of the late Andreas Florez.

Delusions of Grandeur Artists Spotlight: Francesca Gonzales

The second artist we would like to formally introduce to you is 23 year-old Melbourne native  Francesca Gonzales. Backed by a killer live band, she has a voice not to be missed. Her fusion of electronic soul, pop and R&B will leave you wanting more.

Francesca crafts a sound that is hauntingly beautiful, penning lyrics with a remarkable emotional depth for her age and a smooth sound that will leave you captivated from start to finish.

Her debut EP ‘Anywhere Boy’ came out late last year with tracks 'Memories' and 'Hope' gaining attention. Francesca has since been playing shows throughout melbourne as well as festivals such as Beyond the Valley and Shady Cottage where she has gained fans with her soulful jazzy voice and catchy, synth sounds.

We are so excited have Francesca perform this Friday as part of the Delusions of Grandeur in memory of the late Andreas Florez.

Check out her Facebook here for upcoming shows.

Delusions of Grandeur Artists Spotlight: BARCELOS

As part of the lead up to the event Delusions of Grandeur, we are doing a series to highlight the artists that are playing in support of this event in honour of the late Andreas Florez and the celebration of his life.

First up we have Barcelos, A five piece indie rock band that look to take the night by storm with their ambiant sound. Local music publication Happy mag gave them 5/5 for their debut single Blairgowrie and stated it represents one of the best debut singles of the last six months coming out of Melbourne.

Barcelos embodies the energy and force of a hard rock band but embrace a softer side accompanied by a truthfully sincere lead vocalist, James Medley. A unique individual and an inspired poet, his lyrics glide through the track painting an abstract picture, which suit the bands slightly skewed, and experimental melodies.

This fresh faced band are definitely one to watch this year and we cant wait to see them take the stage this friday.

Check them out on Facebook here.

Tickets are $15 online here or $20 on the door.

The Andreas Florez Travel Scholarship for Artistic Excellence

Andreas Florez was a talented young musician with a passion for travel. He graduated from RMIT in 2015, but just months later was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive strain of acute myeloid leukaemia. He passed away six months later, just after releasing his debut EP and before he could realise his dream of pursuiing a music career in the US.

The Andreas Florez Travel Scholarship for Artistic Excellence was established by the Florez family in 2016. The scholarship will enable a gifted music, film or design student to study overseas.

You can support Andreas’s legacy by donating to the scholarship, to give this life-changing opportunity to a talented student every year into the future, and support his family’s goal to raise $250,000.
